Thermaltake WaterRAM RGB Liquid Cooling Memory – DDR4-3200 16GB Kit Review

We’ll be taking a quick look at the Thermaltake WaterRAM RGB Liquid Cooling Memory – DDR4-3200 16GB Kit. These memory kits are Intel XMP 2.0 ready and come in a pair of 8Gb modules. They’re rated to run at DDR4-3200 speeds with a memory timing of 16-18-18-38 @ 1.35V.

For cooling, these modules offer two-way heat dissipation, either by using conventional heatsink or liquid cooling via their large memory waterblock (with standard G 1/4 thread). For RGB lighting effects, it offers a total of upto 16.8 million colours, which can be controlled by the Thermaltake software.

I’ve seen watercooling done on ram modules before. I always thought it was a little OTT (over the top) … and I still do! But hey what the heck … it’s 2019 and RGB is still alive and well, so why not!

The Thermaltake WaterRam features 12 high lumens addressable LEDs with 16.8m colors, and supports by TT RGB PLUS software, Amazon Alexa voice service, and Razer Chroma lighting. It also support motherboards that have a 5V addressable RGB header and can be controlled by ASUS Aura Sync, GIGABYTE RGB Fusion, MSI Mystic Light Sync and ASRock Polychrome.

Before we continue with the review, let’s check out some info about Thermaltake.

We’ll be using these modules in our next PC project build, which will include a full Thermaltake setup with custom watercooling, and I know it’s going to look great! But for the purpose of this review, we’ll be testing them as they are with conventional heat spreaders.

Being XMP 2.0 ready, as well as offering DDR4-3200 speeds, I’m expecting these modules to perform pretty well. We’ll be mounting these modules on our MSI MPG Z390I motherboard and giving it a good blast.

Let’s start by checking out the specifications and features of these memory modules.
