Meet HP’s New Omen 4K and QHD Gaming Desktops and Laptops

Omen

HP is moving further into the world of ultra HD PC and notebook gaming in a major way with its new Omen series of devices and what they’ve delivered looks exciting indeed, especially for owners of the new Founder’s Edition lines of Nvidia graphics cards like the 4K-capable GTX GPUs.

Let’s start with the two laptops. They go by the same simple name of “Omen” and are both externally identical black notebooks with the kinds of red highlights that are common with gamer’s notebook designs.

The one main external difference between the two Omen devices lies in their sizes and the internal specs of each vary considerably. The smaller 15.6 inch model comes with a fairly conservative Intel Core i3 processor and Full HD display while the larger Omen laptop delivers a 17.3 inch screen and a still conservative Core i5 processor. However, what’s interesting about both models is that HP is also offering serious up-conversion versions of both which consist of a a Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, a fairly robust Nvidia GeForce FTX 965M GPU and 4K UHD display, making these into very powerful portable gaming notebooks indeed.

The Nvidia GTX 965M graphics card that both are capable of having isn’t quite powerful enough for real 4K gaming at smooth frame rates on these two notebooks but it does provide plenty of kick for high speed Full HD game play and even QHD 1440p games at relatively high frame rates.

The base price for the two Omen laptops (without their special upgrade features and 4K display switchovers) starts at $899 for the 15.6 inch model and $979.99 for the 17.3 incher. Both models go on sale as of July 10th.

至于令人敬畏的新梅伦台式机塔,它是在八月开始销售,而惠普仍未透露完整的规格崩溃或定价细节,我们确实知道关于梅伦塔的一些事情。For one, it’s supposed to feature the powerful new USB-C connectivity port as part of its connectivity specs and will likely come with seriously robust new 4K-capable GPU technologies like the VR and 4K-ready Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Founder Edtion GPU or AMD’s Radeon R9 390X card –which is a lot less powerful than the GTX 1080. We can also expect unlocked Intel Core i7 processing technology from this majorly gaming-oriented PC tower and overclocking ability is a very likely feature, along with support for multiple drives and multiple monitor connectivity.

The Omen desktop tower will also feature extensive VR gaming support (heavily indicating support for Nvidia’s GTX 1080 GPU) and the tower design also comes with an integrated water cooling system.

In other words, the Omen PC tower is a 4K gamer’s dream and comes with a design that’s similar to those of the two Omen laptops, dark burnished grey finish with “Dragon Red” highlights.

Speaking of UHD gaming monitors, the HP Omen series of products also includes one of these. Also called “Omen”, the new monitor offers a very roomy 32 inch display with QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and AMD FreeSync technology to boot, making the Omen a great fit for AMD’s major performance GPUs. Again, no pricing details on this upcoming QHD PC display.
