BIOSTAR B360GT5S Motherboard Review

Performance: Part 1

The test platform contains the i7-8086K processor, 16GB DDR4 memory set to DDR4-2666 16-16-16 for comparison purposes, SATA, NVMe and USB drives for storage tests and GTX1070 FE graphics card.

Because of mentioned “auto-overclocking”, tests were performed at 102MHz bclk what is default/auto setting of the B360GT5S motherboard.

Let’s begin the tests.

Above you can see the difference between standard DDR4-2133 settings and the DDR4-2666 at popular CL16. Because of the mentioned higher bclk, we have about 20MHz more but it shouldn’t affect performance much.

Performance of RAM is where it should be so it’s pretty good. If not memory frequency limit made by Intel then we could use additional higher performance in programs that use high memory bandwidth.

7-Zip compression and decompression benchmark passed without problems and also performs well.

PCMark 10 is showing us some nice numbers. The typical setup in this price range can achieve about 6000 points, here we have above average result of 6210. Everything seems to work perfectly in a mixed application environment.

Similar tests is providing older, PCMark 8 which is using a bit different applications.

The same as in PCMark 10, also here results are good but let’s focus for a moment on the storage tests which are also available in PCMark 8.

On the next page, we will present the results of tests performed on SATA, NVMe and USB drives. PCMark8 storage tests are demanding and take a lot of time.
