TeamGroup Dark Z FPS 16GB DDR4-4000 CL16 Memory Kit Review

Overclocking

免责声明:超频从来都不是guaranteed, so that the results may vary depending on certain conditions and various hardware configurations. I am not recommending overclocking if you do not know what you are doing. High voltages may damage hardware, and the warranty will not cover it.

Dark Z FPS is using Samsung B-die IC what is even advertised by the Team Group. This IC is for a long time on the market, so all overclockers and gamers know it already. However, in time we can see a bit different batches and bins. Team Group suggests that their top memory kits have the best bins of Samsung B-die chips, and we can see that in our tests.

The tested memory kit can work at both tight timings and high frequency. We can count on everything from DDR4-3600 CL12-14 to DDR4-4800 CL16-18. The used platform highly affects how tight can work timings. As you can see below, DDR4-3733 CL13-13-13 works fine at 1.55V. CL12 wasn’t stable in longer tests and required significantly higher voltage.

Optimal for most users seems anything between DDR4-4200 and DDR4-4400. At this clock, we can count at CL14-16, depends on voltages. This is also what should be possible on most popular motherboards, not even these very expensive. Presented DDR4-4200 CL14 could be made at 1.55V what is still quite low voltage for this setting. We have to remember that most DDR4-4266 memory kits are available at 1.50-1.60V. Since no one would risk a high RMA rate, then we can assume it’s perfectly safe.

The same 1.55V is required to set DDR4-4800 CL18-18-18. Results at DDR4-4800 are amazing, and this is not even a fully tweaked setting.

Even though Dark Z FPS doesn’t require overclocking, it has a high overclocking headroom, so why not make it work even faster. For sure, overclockers and computer enthusiasts will play with additional settings; all others can enjoy high speed and stability at the XMP settings.
