Noctua NH-U9S chromax.black CPU Cooler Review

Closer Look / Product Photos

Noctua NH-U9S chromax.black comes in a black box with everything described well on the exterior.

In the photos, you can see an additional box with NH-A9 PWM chromax.black.swap. It’s a separated set that includes an additional fan, extension cable, and rubber, anti-vibration pads in six colors.

In the box is a cooler, a sticker with the Noctua logo, thermal grease, a low-noise adaptor, mounting kits for all popular desktop platforms, and a screwdriver. Pretty much everything we may need to install our new cooler.

Installation isn’t hard and shouldn’t cause any problems, especially if we stick to the user’s manual, which describes every step well.

The cooler is 125mm tall, so it should fit most PC cases, excluding these really small in ITX size. If we install an additional fan on some motherboards like our Strix B550I-Gaming, we have to add about 10-15mm to the cooler’s height.

The cooler looks great in its full black design. It looks even better if we build a fully black PC. Then single LEDs from RAM or other devices give a nice effect. Our build is wholly black, as you can see above and below.

As always, Noctua delivers a top-quality product, so we don’t have to worry about anything. For most users, the most important is performance so let’s move to the next page to check our test results.
